Fishing-Tales tells about Bubba the fish that no one could catch. Everyone would stock the tackle box with the most expensive bait and they would head out to the lake to catch Bubba. He wasn’t just a fishing story, but he was the subject of a lot of fishing-tales. He was the prize and everyone wanted to win him. No one was sure what kind of fish he was, but what they knew was that he was large and he was smart.
My dad was one of those obsessed with catching Bubba. He would tell fishing stories about how Bubba flipped his boat. Not knowing what kind of fish he was, he would pack the largest gear and the largest bait that was too large for trout fishing. Size matters when it comes to trout fishing because all you really need is light gear and light bait. He would put on his brown waders so that the fish would be less likely to see him if he were wading and he would not smoke a day before going out so he would smell natural.
Unfortunately, this fishing tale doesn’t end with my dad or anyone in town catching Bubba, but several years later, a young boy was fishing when he suddenly started screaming that he caught a huge one. However, the fish got away. Now everyone is looking for the fish with a mouth scarred by the hook of an 8-year-old boy. Thirty-five years later and they’re still looking for Bubba.
