A Fishing-Tale for Those Who Love Spring Fishing

I always loved fishing with my grandmother because she knew a lot about fishing. She loved it so much that she made it a hobby to stay up on the latest gear and the different kinds of baits that could be used. One thing she taught me during all of her fishing-tales was that fishing in the spring was different than other times of year because the water conditions are different. One of the reasons is because the rivers and streams tend to be higher in the spring.

Also thorough her fishing-tales were that I needed to stand in a way that my shadow did not cast on the water. This is because cold water fish may not bite if they feel that there is something unnatural about the conditions at the time. It’s a good thing she taught me this because I was one of those kids who loved it when my shadow cast on anything. I thought it would come to life like in Peter Pan and I even feared I would lose it like he did.

My grandma also experimented with different baits and found that those that had a natural look worked better. In her fishing stories she would tell me of how fish were really smart and knew real from fake unless you could fake them out really well.

I am so thankful that I had that time with her; to listen to her fishing-tales and stories about her life. It is those memories that count.

Note from the Editor of Fishimg-Tales Thanks for the fishing story Jim. I remember fishing with my Grandfather and my Grandmother in the Galveston Tx. area with fond memories
